Lasagna is a delicious dish that was traditionally prepared in Italy and has since been prepared in homes and restaurants all over the world. While a traditional lasagna consists of meat, a mixture of cheese, Lasagna noodles, and sauce, there have been many new and unique variations of lasagna created. Those who are vegetarians can replace mincemeat for tofu and the lasagna will still turn out just as good. In fact, there are many hidden ingredients that can be used in a lasagna to make it even more tastier than usual.

When most people hear of the name Heinz, they typically think of ketchup because Heinz is known as one of the best selling brands of ketchup. While ketchup is a condiment that is used on several types of meats and side dishes, most individuals probably would not even think about using it in their lasagna dish as a special ingredient. However, Heinz ketchup is a great secret ingredient to add to a lasagna for an extra bold flavor.

To add the Heinz ketchup into the lasagna, the mincemeat must be cooked until completely brown. After the mincemeat has browned, chopped onion and green pepper can be added as well as a dash or two of oregano. Once those ingredients are mixed in with the mincemeat, one large wooden spoon full of ketchup can be added and mixed along with the other ingredients. After the ketchup has been added to the mincemeat, a can of tomato sauce can also be mixed in.

Preparing the lasagna is quite simple. The lasagna noodles will be placed inside of the baking pan. Cheese is laid down on the lasagna noodles first and then the mincemeat. Different people use different types of cheese for their lasagna. One good suggestion would be to combine a container of ricotta cheese, one egg, and two cups of mozzarella cheese together and use that for the filling of the lasagna. The combination of ricotta and mozzarella is quite delicious and goes well with the mincemeat. After the cheese is laid onto the pasta, the mincemeat will follow and then another round of lasagna noodles. Once the lasagna is prepared, it can be baked in the oven and then served.
